Two questions, both Cisco, but unrelated to each other.
First, in doing a bootcamp lab today, I was redistributing from
OSPF into EIGRP bewteen two routers. Now I haven't done a lot of
EIGRP, so bear with me. If I just used the redistribute OSPF command
on the ASBR, without any metrics, the pure EIGRP router connected to
it would only show the routes from the ASBR that were "connected".
When I added metrics to the OSPF redistribute statement, all OSPF
routes from the ASBR showed up in the EIGRP router as EIGRP external
routes. D EX.
Now I could go did in the books and find the answer, but I've been
at this lab for about 12 hours, so I'm looking for the easy way out.
Question two. If you don't enable ip muliticast routing explictly
on a router, does that mean that any packet with a destination of
224.0.0.0-239.255.255.255 gets dropped? Somehow that doesn't sound
right. I've seen a lot of routers without ip multicast routing turned
on, and I can't believe that those networks never use multicasts!
Thanks all!
