Sorry I cant give you any good advice on how to pass. But after my last shot
a few weeks back, I'll try a few pointers on what I did wrong.
1) When you first get the test book, read the whole thing cover to cover,
twice.
2) Make your first shot at the drawing, and lable everything. Use lots of
colors. When I was done last time, my daughter would have been proud of the
diagram, it should be on the kitchen fridge. Use diffrent colors for IPX,
Appletalk ect...
3) Make a list of the routers you have on a sheet of paper. Then when you
have a question that says something like, make all the routers AUX port have
a password of CCIE, check then off as you do them. I missed one something
like that and missed points (dumb mistake, but easy to do)
4) You may or may not have to clear the routers. If you do, do one at a
time, and work on the drawing while doing this. Set all password ect.
5) When you dont fully understand a question, or think there may be more
then one way, ask the proctor. Some of the questions I had could be done a
few diffrent ways. Also in the proctor says they cant answer the question,
think of a diffrent way to word it, and show you know what you are doing.
Just dont ask "Can I do this" or even better "how do I do this". Ask the
question by showing you know what you are doing. "I could do this this way
or this way, would both be ok"
6) Keep an eye on the clock
7) When you get down to crunch time, go for points. If you cant get
something to work, "cheat" by using a static route, or just config the part
you know how to get working. You will loose points for the static route, but
may gain them if you can get other sections working.
8) Find Dereks Bible

Good luck, Hope it helps

Howard

Subject: 4 days and counting until RTP

Hi all. I'm down to my last four days before my second attempt at the lab
in RTP.

I've been through all of the CCIE Boot Camp labs, FatKid.com's labs, a
scattering of books, and spent uncounted hours on CCO/the doc CD. I
reviewed my last lab attempt and noted where I screwed up and what I should
have done differently.

So with all that in mind, does anyone have any last minute advice?

Thanks,

Kinton
