Subject: Route-Map, Map-Class & Policy Routing

Hi Group,

I am learning up the above subject and I need someone to clarify my
understandings:

(i) Route-Map => is used to control routing parameter behaviors for routing
protocols
can be used in BGP to alter various characteristic; to filter route in
redistribution.

(ii) Map-class => is used to control interface characteristics

(iii) Policy routing => is used to control input at an interface as when it
goes out, what policy to be used for outgoing charateristics.
apply on the interface of incoming packets and to alter characteristic like
next-hop (outgoing characteristic)
Or can someone give me a better rules as when to use the above? Also, what's

the difference between commands "ip policy" & "ip local policy"?
difference : policy route does not act on router self-generated packet
therefore, to apply policy for router self generated packet, u need ip
local-policy.

Thanks in advance.

Regards
HonSiong
