I found the same thing. I can't explain the "why" of the behavior, but I think
I was able to figure out the "how."

The weird thing is that even though you are using a dialer interface, you can s
till use legacy DDR. If you use the 'dialer map ip' command, you should get th
e same results as if you were using that same command on a physical interface.
This seems weird to me anyway.

However, if you enter the other dialer profile commands (the ones that the Casl
ow book says you have to use), then the 'dialer ?' command will no longer show
'map' as an option. I think if you enter 'dialer remote-string', it will take
the 'map' option away. (If not that command, it is one of the dialer profile c
ommands...) Then you are doing what would be expected in dialer profiles.

So, yes, in my experience it works. Whether there are any caveats to doing it
either way, I'm not sure.

Subject: ISDN Dialer profile with dialer map ip command

Hi all,

I was reading Bruce Calsow's book on ISDN dialer profile.
In his book, he said that when using Dialer profile, "dialer map ip" command
is not available. The only time we use "dialer map ip command" is on DDR.
But when I create a dialer interface and do a "show dialer ?", the map
parameter is available.

Can any help me on this. My question is, can dialer profile also use dialer
map ip command to map next hop ip address?

Thanks all.
