I had problems with authentication strings not working sometimes because
the router seemed to have put a space at the end... like I'd do this:
      key-string cisco ?

then just hit enter, without backspace after I found out that there was
nothing else to do. I believe that the router actually look the space....
try retyping both of them, or just use something else.
