IRB Question.

I have a simple irb setup where off a routed serial interface I have a
   bridged segment 14.14.14.0/24
and of a routed segment I have an address 16.16.16.0/24. I have run up
   EIGRP over the routed link.

What I find strange is that I can ping from 16.16.16.3 the far routed
link end point to 14.14.14.2 the far
bridged link endpoint. Yet the router with the bridged only config has
   no default route .

The way O think that it is working is that when I ping from the
bridged side of the link the packet
just gets forwarded (initally flooded) up the link it hits the bridge
side of the BVI and then a routing
decsion is made by the router based on the EIGRP routes. On the way
   back from the routed side
the router has an EIGRP route for 14.14.14/24 based on the BVI
address. When the BVI gets the
packet it bridges it down the birdged link.

I just want a sanity check on the above.

   Regards,
   Kevin
