There is (or at least there used to be) an RJ45 console port soldered to the
LANE module. It's not accessable from outside the chassis, but if you leave
a few slots empty above the LANE card, you can get to it. I was always able
to plug a standard console cable into it, then reset the box. You can watch
it boot, hit break, change config register, etc. from here just like a
normal router.

It's been a while since I've played with a LANE card, and I've always
noticed with Cisco that the number of "diagnostic" jumpers and connectors
and such seems to diminish as products become more mature, but at least with
the earlier LANE cards this connector existed. If I recall correctly it's
somewhere on the front corner of the board.

Subject: Cat 5500 LANE Module Password Recovery - May be Off Topic

Hi All
Could some one please tell me how to brake into Cat 5500 LANE Module to
recover Password.

I can practise on this CAT 5500 with LS1010 and LANE Module for 4-5 hrs if I
can get in to it.

I could breake into to the console of CAT 5500 and the LS 1010 Module.
I have been searching and still searching for this on CCO for sometime now.

TIA

Mohan
