Two 2501's back to back as a FR switch

Hi,

I have configured two 2501's back to back over Ethernet as a FR switch using
tunnels. But the performance is really very poor when I try and ping from a
spoke router to the hub or to another spoke router, using subinterfaces at the
hub ?

The performance is acceptable when the hub is configured as a single physical
interface.

Does any one have some suggestions as to how to overcome this problem ?
