I hope someone can clarify this. I have been experimenting with an isdn
connection configured within an ospf area that is acting as a virtual-link
area. The ip ospf demand circuit command has been configured to suppress
hellos. This however, does not prevent the dialer from activating.
Someone suggested a restrictive dialer-list to prevent ip packets with a
destination of 224.0.0.5. While this doesn't make sense to me, I attempted it.
Still the dialer is activated periodically by direct unicasts from one bri
interface to the other and no topology change.
To add to this confusion, I was looking at Thomas' book on pages 405-406.
There he uses an example where the ip ospf demand circuit command is being
applied to the under the router command and not on the interface. (works on
the interface, not the router)
In the "TIPS" section at he top of page 406, he seems to be implying that all
routers within an area where a demand cicuit is being run, should have this
feature activated...
Please help clarify..The futher I look into this the less sense it seems to
make.
Thanks,
Curtis
