We just had a discussion about this last week in Bruce
Caslow's ECP1 class. They're basically a really good idea
for OSPF and BGP. Read the exam carefully, and if it
doesn't prohibit you from doing this, I would ask the
proctor and state your reasons for wanting to use them. The
procotor has the final word.
BTW, I didn't pass this week. I made it to the morning of
Day 2 and spent too much time on a couple of items.
