Without seeing the configs it's a bit hard to pinpoint anything, but one
thing that's always worth looking for is a space at the end of a key-string
(often done if you 'space ?' to look for other parameters). If one router's
key-string has a trailing space and the other's doesn't, that will cause an
authentication failure.
In general, if you look at the running config, you will see a space as a :20
at the end of a clear-text authentication string. If the string is
encrypted, you won't see it. Similarly, if you've cut and pasted from a
prepared config and are looking at that, a space will not be obvious.
Sorry if I'm babbling here, but I've fallen foul of spaces myself and wasted
hours trying to work out what's wrong. I know how frustrating it can be.

Subject: RIP v2 authentication
I have been trying to config the RIPv2 with text and md5 auth. But I keep
getting the error " ...update ignored invalid authentication... " when I do
the debug ip rip.
I have configured the same key chain name, key 1 and same key-string on both
the
routers. The config looks correct unless there is some special command that
I
might be missing...
Can anyone help ?
thanks,
Vijay
