Preferred, I don't know. Here is an option:
You could for example connect two routers (that have TokenRing interfaces
on them) via Ethernet or Serial. It would be the same as testing/playing
with SRB stuff. If you have the routers connected over Ethernet, with a PC
on either end connected via TK, running NetBeui, I'm sure it might be
interesting to sniff the different segments.
On the X.25, have you tried x25 routing? Set up a router to be the switch,
like F/R.
