You use "ip pim nbma-mode" with sparse mode PIM (only).
As I understand it, the problem with "broadcast" using NBMA is
that it's really a "pseudobroadcast" which is OK for the odd
HELLO packet or routing update (or lab environment), but is not
the preferred way to propagate IP multicast packets in a real-world
network. Thus, "ip pim nbma-mode" came about for efficiency's sake.
