According to the public website the ATM switch will not require me to
   configure it;

Here would be how I would setup the router side according to what I
have read in Caslow. Does anyone see any errors ? Am I missing
   anything ?

   Router<config># interface atm x/x/x
   Router<config-if># ip address x.y.z.1 255.255.255.0
   Router<config-if># atm arp-server-self
Router<config-if># atm pvc 5 0 5 qsaal (needed to talk to ATM)
Router<config-if># atm pvc 16 0 16 ilmi (needed to talk to ATM via
   ILMI)
Router<config-if># atm esi xxxxyyyyaaaa.aa (default is mac, assign if
   told something else)
Router#show atm ilmi (Copy and paste NSAP address learned via ILMI
   into notepad)
Router#show atm arp server (copy and paste int notepad)
   Router# show arp
Router# ping x.y.z.2 (or other devices on ATM network)

I understand the need for a map-group and map-list if I use other
protocols besides IP (such as IPX/Appletalk) but this should be enough
   to get IP going ?
