To All,
I've been working with some ATM equipment today and I just wanted to
check my thinking on the differences between the configurations I've
tried.
Option 1: RFC 1483
Simple mapping of Layer 3 addresses to ATM NSAP addresses.
Much like mapping of Frame Relay DLCI's
Option 2: RFC 1577
Centralized ARP server.
Configure each router with the NSAP address of the ARP server
and configure the ARP server with "ATM ARP-SERVER SELF"
and that's pretty much the extent of it.
Option 3: LANE
Haven't gotten that working yet.
Basically LEC/BUS handle address resolution.
LECS handles basic entry into the ELAN.
LEC sees the ATM cloud as a single broadcast domain.
Can anyone confirm for me that I'm missing any big pieces here
or do I pretty much have it.
Question: How do each of these approaches handle NON-IP protocols
(IPX,Apple,DEC)?
I can see how to do it with 1483, but it's not clear on the other two.
Thanks
Scott
