OSPF database

Is there a way to clear the ospf database? For example, I ended
up with some advertisements from an interface that i removed. However,
because all the routers had this in their database, they didnt' seem to be
timing it out. In order to get it out, I had to reload a bunch of routers.

I must be missing something here?
