Ben,
(1)distribute lists is used to filter routes in/out of the routing
table. It does not filter LSAs.
WIthin link state domain, it has limited use.
(2) if u specify passive interface for the loopback interface, it
means that no update will be sent out that
loopback interface. BUT, the network for that loopback interface will
still be sent out to your other interfaces.

4 days guys.... I appreciate all of you that have graciously
answered my questions. 2 QUESTIONS: 1. Since OSPF is a Link State
Protocol, how can you use distribute lists to filter protocols
in/out of the ospf route table? Is this a case where you would have
to get friendly with a route-map? 2. On a router running IGRP, I
have noticed that eventhough I specify passive on my loopback
interfaces under IGRP, they get advertised out to my IGRP domain.
Is this characteristic of IGRP? I'm having a brain freeze here,
please help. Thanks, Benjy Rife
