I think I understand your question; here is what I recall from my
experience and instructions from my proctor (a very nice lady, btw):

1. Each section has a discrete point value; it works or it doesn't.

2. There is no partial credit; for full credit:

3. It has to work exactly as requested, per the specs. For example,
you could probably always get something working via a quad zeroes default
route, but if that is not what was specified, then you get 0 credit.

They are pretty strict, if not always 'crystal clear' - that is why you
must spend some time up front and read ALL the instructions before
putting pencil to paper.

Bottom line: it gets very interesting and really tests your understanding
of the many interdependencies in order to get everything working as
requested.
